George, intern & senior at Montclair State University

Welcome to our Intern page!

Interns at Geltrude & Company, LLC experience first-hand the scope of the public accounting industry as well as the professional, academic and personal demands on a public accountant from a medium-sized firm perspective.

Our firm is composed of seasoned professionals with Big-4 experience who will take the time to teach or expand on concepts you've learned in class.  In effect, here is where your lessons are put to practical use.  I believe the best way to sum up the Geltrude intern's experience is with the immortal words of our current intern, Eric, "Oh, that's how you do it.  That makes more sense now."

As a Geltrude intern, your responsibilities range from small business tasks such as data entry and bank reconciliation to the processing of basic tax returns during busy season, in addition to entry level audit duties including the preparation of audit confirmations and footing of financial statements.  Interns also learn the process of linking accounting files with tax returns and financial documents.   We have found that these tasks will give you a more complete understanding of accounting, while also allowing you to gain a more thorough knowledge of how to use various tax, audit and accounting programs.  Our goal is to provide an environment for ambitious college students to gain professional maturity and, because our interns tend to work with us for several years, for them to see their work come full circle.

Interested in joining the team?  A couple of points worth mentioning: we are looking for students in their junior or senior year of college in good standing with a major in Accounting.  You must be committed, flexible and organized, as well as willing to perform light administrative tasks which should encompass less than 20% of your time.  Details may be discussed with our Intern Coordinator.
